For example, Johanna Jordan’s abstract stainless sculpture in Holiday Park reminds some viewers of a porpoise cavorting in a wave. The artist explains that she attempts to project a mood or emotion through abstraction. Her work expresses ‘the contrast between opposites…exploring positive and negative space by setting holes and voids in contrast with solid form.
Jordan says forms from nature often suggest an idea for a design or ‘perhaps a certain mood that can create a starting point’. Her intention to project in her forms an overall feeling of ‘joyousess, dance, energy force’ is evident in the Holiday Park piece which is ‘Untitled’ and could very well have been inspired by a dolphin.
